Jiji is ready to come home! She's the darling penguin, and students work to get her across the screen by solving problems. After checking out the resource links from my previous blog, you are now ready to support your child as they work with ST at home!
The Mind Institute recommends that grades 3-5 complete 90 minutes of ST Math a week. We have worked hard and created a math schedule at school that makes this happen! Students have become hooked, and I encourage them to do ST Math at home, too! As we are starting later in the year, incorporating ST Math at home will help to ensure our students complete third grade curriculum before they enter fourth grade. That being said, the goals are for students to think deeply, master concepts, and have math conversations. I encourage them to work hard and think hard (rather than work fast!). To top it off-they have having a BLAST!

Resources for Facilitation at Home

I encourage you to be present when your student is working on ST Math. Here are some steps and facilitation questions to help you guide your child. The idea is to scaffold their thinking with prompting questions rather than giving answers or revealing game strategy. Have math conversations!
