There will be quite a few blog posts this week...there are a lot of events and news to share (especially leading up to our holiday break!). I will chip away slowly!
Reading Log Drama:
-Thank you to Holly Detels for alerting me that the reading log file is not downloading in a readable format. I will work to remedy this first thing in the morning. If your child doesn't have a reading log form , I let them know that recording the title of the book and responding with 2-3 sentences on scratch paper is perfectly acceptable!
Scholastic Book Orders:
-Lara Francisco would like to remind us that Scholastic book orders are due on the 5th! With her incredible offer to help manage this we are looking forward to book orders coming in monthly! We have really been making a big deal about new books (brand new or new to us!) so book as a holiday gift may really be a big hit! Hit the link under the Resources Tab.
Santoro's Book Fair:
This week our classroom will preview the Bookfair on Wednesday and create a wishlist. I will send wishlists home so that you can decide if you'd like to purchase a book or two when we do our final visit on Friday at 3:15 PM! You can send either cash or check and I can help kids with the checkout process. It may be helpful to send money back in an envelope along with the wishlist highlighted with the book titles you wish to purchase.
E-Folio Addition:
Students have begun recording their Harris Burdick Fiction stories. Together, we created a rubric that outlines a good read-aloud recording. Ask your student to let you know when they have recorded their story! View it on their E-Folio and then be sure to comment using the commenting guidelines from my previous post :) It is powerful to watch them read their own writing aloud for such a big audience!
Look forward to blogs about....
1. Big PBL community service project updates!!
2. Our focuses leading up to the holiday break
Don't forget to be adding Dreambox time to your child's homework routine. This will be especially great over the 2 week holiday break to maintain momentum in math.
Continue to work on mastery and automaticity with addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division facts!
